Each of the nations has its own music and its own instrument. In Armenia it is a DUDUK. With its sound, the duduk tells about the difficult fate of the Armenians, about the greatness of these mountains and about a wonderful country that has its own unique atmosphere and aesthetics.
There is a beautiful legend about this instrument. Once, flying over the mountains, a Young Wind saw a beautiful tree that he had never seen anywhere before. He was fascinated. Fingering the petals of its delicate flowers, lightly touching the notches of the leaves, he extracted amazing melodies, the sounds of which carried far around. When the High Wind was informed of this, he unleashed his wrath on the mountains, destroying almost all vegetation. The Young Wind, spreading a tent over his tree, tried his best to save him. Moreover, he announced that he was ready to make any sacrifice for this.
And then the Lord of the Winds answered him: "Well, stay! But from now on you will never be able to fly again!" Happy Wind wanted to fold his wings, but the Lord stopped him: "No, it's too easy. The wings will stay with you. You can take off at any moment. But as soon as you do this, the tree will die." The Young Wind was not embarrassed, because the wings remained with him, and he was with the tree.
Everything would have been fine, but when autumn came, the tree was bare, and there were no flowers or leaves to play with. The Young Wind experienced a terrible melancholy. His brethren were rushing around, tearing the last leaves from the surrounding trees. Filling the mountains with a victorious howl, they seemed to invite him into their round dance. And one day, unable to stand it, he joined them. At the same moment, the tree died. Only a twig remained, in which a particle of wind was entangled.
After some time, the boy who was collecting firewood found her and made a pipe, which, as soon as he brought it to his lips, seemed to play the sad melody of parting. This is how the Armenian duduk (ծիրանափող) was born. The Armenian duduk is a masterpiece of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. Listen to his charming melody, the voice of eternity, the soul of the apricot tree.
